The sethi families indeed descended from the egyptian pharaos. Over time they migrated eastwards establishing themselves in a village near Peshawar. There is a Sethi street in Peshawar, a Sethi Bridge etc. Sethis in British India were christians, muslims, hindus and sikhs. They chose their religion according to convenience but at heart remained Sethis. A Sethi (my great grand father) was a governor of Balochistan (political agent was the term) in British India.
